Kids Explorations

Explorations is our version of Sunday school here at Lynnwood Reformed Church. First, it is important to us that our younger folks are part of the worship service. Each Sunday one of our PreK-5th graders will either light our Christ candle or lead us in the Call to Worship. Then, after hearing a children's message in worship they head off to Explorations. There they gather as a group, hear a story, sing some songs, and get involved in activities relating to that day's story. There is usually a craft involved, as well. Sometimes the kids will break into groups based on their ages to go even deeper into the Bible story. Explorations runs from 10-11 every Sunday!

Youth Group

Our Youth Group here at Lynnwood is for 6th-12th graders. We meet every Sunday after church from 11:00-noon. During these times, we look at scripture, current events, watch videos, look into church seasons and the liturgical calendar, or focus on upcoming mission opportunities. Additionally, twice a month we meet as a group for fellowship, usually Sunday evenings from 6-7:30. At these gatherings we cook together, do a devotional, play games, and sometimes gather for fellowship and learning with other groups in the area. Wherever students are in their faith journey, they will find in our group an openness to wonder about and discover their relationship with God in a positive atmosphere of love.

Music Ministries

Lynnwood Reformed Church has an established Music Ministry comprised of approximately 20 adults with a well established tradition of providing meaningful choral anthems, solos and instrumental selections to lift the spirit and give meaningful praise to God. In weekly rehearsals, the SATB choir prepares music from a wide-range of composers including the standard classics as well as contemporary styles that are meaningful and appealing to youthful as well as adult congregations. Sunday Worship services are special events in our church, giving us an opportunity to praise and glorify God.

We seek to have an active outreach ministry within our church and in our community. For the past ten years we welcomed a local community chorus group of 30 individuals to share our rehearsal space. This fall, Lynnwood Reformed Church approved the inclusion of the Suburban Sounds Community Chorus as part of Lynnwood Music Ministries. We continue using this opportunity to combine voices for festival concerts at Christmas and other special occasion, as well as participate in a service to the community by offering music programs to senior organizations, housing facilities, hospitals and nursing homes.

Choir Rehearsals are held Wednesday eve. At 7:30 pm September through June. Community Rehearsals are held on Sunday at 7 pm also September through June. Occasionally rehearsals are held in July and August just for the joy of singing or to prepare for a special service. New members are always welcome.

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jean La Crosse, Director of Church and Community Music"

Camp Fowler

Camp Fowler is a non-profit Christian children's camp that practices a worldly spirituality. In this we mean that Fowler seeks to live into its mission of being a place of Christian hospitality where all are called to live:

o    more intentionally in community,

o    more graciously in simplicity,

o    and more consciously as caregivers to creation.

Throughout the year Camp Fowler provides a number of Adirondack style rental facilities, including lodging, a chapel, private cabins, and meeting and banquet space. These facilities are used for personal and professional retreats, weddings, banquets, family reunions, etc.

Fowler also provides several retreats throughout the year, which all are welcome to attend. Retreat themes often include topics that revolve around stewardship, relationship building, youth ministry needs, and spirituality.

All income camp generates from rental fees, retreats, summer camp, and donations goes to help keep camp fees at a reasonable level as well providing scholarships to children with financial need.

Mission Team/Community Service and Involvement

Lynnwood’s Mission Team seeks to offer opportunities for hands-on service in our local community and beyond. We welcome additional volunteers in these efforts. Need community service hours or want to help make a difference? Click on the “Mission” tab at the top of the page for more information. In addition to hands-on service opportunities, Lynnwood also supports local, national and international missions both financially and through collections of goods.

Small Group Ministry

At Lynnwood we believe in the power of intentional small groups. Participating in a small group is a great way to get to know each other, to care for each other and to explore and nurture one’s faith. The small group ministry program is coordinated by coaches (lay and clergy) who have had specialized training and small group leadership experience. Coaches train lay-leaders who facilitate groups on various topics such as book study, Bible study, faith art journaling, humor and improvisational techniques. Each group chooses the day of the week and the frequency it meets, generally sessions are 1 ½ hours in duration. Some small groups are short- term; others are long-term. Newcomers are especially welcome. Church membership is not required. Worship attendance is not required. All are welcome.
